Leaf by Niggle

A short story by J. R. R. Tolkien.
"There once was a little man called Niggle, who had a long journey to make."
So begins the story of Niggle's journey, which turns out to be the story of his life and his journey into eternity.

Niggle was a painter. . . the sort of painter who could paint leaves better than trees. I could relate to Niggle and his neighbor, Parish, in many ways. Sometimes it is hard to see the big picture, but wait--you'll need to read this story to understand.

Leaf By Niggle is found in The Tolkien Reader.

Books of '06--Basic Christianity

This is the book that my son's small group is studying. I hadn't set out to read this one, but it was laying on the coffee table and I couldn't resist poking my nose into it. Hmmm. There were a few things with which I took immediate exception, so I thought it only right that I actually read the book before deciding it had some problems.

This promises to be a quick read, so D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones' Ephesians Volume One goes on hold (again).

I hope to finish this in one or two sittings over the weekend.

Books of '06--The Pleasures of God

Our adult Sunday School class is studying this book. I can't go because I teach a the children's Sunday School class at the same time, but I don't want to miss anything! I am already 3 chapters behind, so I will try to catch up this weekend.

The Pleasures of God by John Piper
